A key feature of the MS181C-BE is Stihl’s ErgoStart system. This is a spring assisted starting system which makes the MS181C-BE exceptionally easy to start. We would always urge caution when storing a chainsaw to ensure that it is kept out of reach of children but we urge extra caution on saws fitted with ErgoStart because of the ease with which these saws can be started.
The Stihl MS181C-BE has a modern design and uses an economical Stihl 2-MIX engine. The 31.8cc engine generates 1.5kW / 2.0hp which gives mid-range performance when compared to Stihl’s range of homeowner chainsaws. Being more powerful than the entry level models, the MS181C-BE is fitted with a slightly wider gauge of chain to give better cutting performance.
The MS181C-BE’s engine is fitted with a compensator to ensure that the engine keeps running at peak performance even when the air filter starts to get dirty. The MS181C-BE also features Stihl’s long-life air filter system to ensure maximum life from the air filter. When it is time for a spot of maintenance, the top cover is easy to remove without the need for tools.
Adding chain oil and fuel is very quick and easy with Stihl’s quick release tank caps.
Chain tensioning is achieved on the Stihl MS181C-BE via the tool-free Quick Chain tensioning system. Just loosen the side case, adjust the chain tension with the adjuster wheel and re-tighten the side case.
The Stihl MS181C-BE chainsaw is the perfect choice for anyone wanting an easy to use quality homeowner chainsaw at an economical price.
The Stihl MS181C-BE is available with a 12” (30cm), 14” (35cm) or 16” (40cm) guide bar. Please note, cutting length will always be a little shorter than the bar length because of the way guide bars are measured. The difference between the guide bar length and cutting length varies by chainsaw model.
