F G Adamson & Son's
history started with Fred Adamson who commenced business in 1945 on the site we
still use today at Swanland. The premises are located just outside the village
of Swanland in East Yorkshire, very close to the Humber Bridge. More recently, January 2016, saw the opening
of a new, purpose built depot, in
Langworth, Lincolnshire.
We have specialised in
garden machinery, engines and spare parts for over 70 years and during that
time have become one of the most prominent suppliers in Yorkshire. We sell all
manner of mowers and garden related machinery to homeowners and professional
users such as local authorities, golf clubs and contractors. Across the depots
we have a comprehensively stocked spare parts department and a large service department
allowing us to offer a backup service that is second to none.
Our purpose built
modern premises cover approximately 30,000 sq ft and include spacious well
stocked showrooms, a parts department which is stocked with close to 40,000
stock lines, extensive workshops for our
technicians and a large warehouse which ensures that most orders are met from
stock and can be dispatched quickly.
Having been in business
for so many years we have been able to refine our suppliers and feel that we
hold the dealerships for the best machinery manufacturers in our industry. We
stock a comprehensive range of products from Allett, Bosch (Lawn & Garden),
Hayter (Homeowner products), Honda (Lawn & Garden and Energy), Husqvarna,
John Deere (Groundscare), Mountfield, Stihl and Westwood plus a number of other
good quality but less well known manufacturers. We only sell quality products
that offer good value to our customers and for which we can be assured that we
can provide the level of after sales customer support expected in today's
market.
We also sell engines
and genuine spare parts from brand leaders including Briggs & Stratton,
Honda, Kawasaki, Kohler, Peerless, Robin/Subaru, Tecumseh and many more.
Through the trade side
of our business we supply garden machinery, engines and spare parts to garden
machinery dealers and other trade customers throughout the UK. Our competitive
trade terms and reliable service has attracted a large number of trade
customers over the years. Our trade customers range from one-person operations
through to large multi-depot businesses, many of whom prefer to deal with us as
a one-stop-shop rather than dealing direct with several different suppliers.
Fred Adamson passed
away in 2007 but is succeeded in the business by his sons Mike and John. Mike
started with the business straight from school in 1962 and John joined in 1984
after several years in accountancy. The next generation are now employed in the
business with Gillian Jenkins, Michael Adamson Jnr and John Adamson Jnr all
playing an active role.
